delete windows on Seagate go

have seagate goflex external hard drive loaded by windows. need to erase and re format to apple ios

how do I do this? Thanks

Essentially an OS question, rather than an 'AppleWorks' one. AppleWorks is Apple's long discontinued productivity application that included word processing, spreadsheet, database, drawing, and paint modules.

That said, I don't know that you can format a disk to "apple ios", the operating system used in iPhone and iPad. My iPad, running the current iOS version, 10.3.3, lists only STORAGE (on board the machine) and iCLOUD (on one or more Apple servers) as storage options.

If you are actually on a Mac, rather than an iOS device, disk formatting is handled by Disk Utility, found in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder (or click the magnifier at the right end of the main menu bar and search 'disk' or 'disk utility'—without the quotes), and click the app in the search results to launch it directly.

Plug in the external drive to be formatted, wait for it to mount, launch Disk Utility.

Select the disk to be formatted, then click erase, and follow the instructions.

You will need to select a format for the disk. Macs can read and write to 'MS-DOS(FAT)' and 'OS X extended' format storage devices.

The image is from Disk Utility 15.0, shipped with OS X 10.11.x El Capitan. Yours may differ in appearance.

The selected 'disk' is the single partition "USB DISK" on a USB memory stick, currently formatted as an MS DOS (FAT) device.

Please supply the model name of the device you are using, and if it is a Mac, the OS version number. You can get the version number from About this Mac, the first item in the Aple menu at the left end of your menu bar.

Regards,

Barry
