why would both my macs forget the password at t...

My MacBook Air OS 10.12.6 forgot the opening password.  When I got home ( about 3 hours later) my IMAC OS 10.12.6 did the same thing.  Why?  Both computers have been scanned with to Malware programs. nothing found. 

If you update you AppleID Password, there is a setting to force a logout of all devices associated with that account. You then have to sign back in with your new password.
