How to disable Up Next in iPhone Music?

I need to play a few songs at an event and I need to play them according to a timeline - some background music/intro music will be played again on cue - but each time I tap a song in an album I created (say "gala event") and I play it, then somehow  the Up Next keeps populating with other music in the album - and it's messing things up

How can I stop Up next entirely?

When I've needed to use an iDevice as source for an event I've made a playlist folder for the event, and then separate playlists for each section. That way I can have a number of items play in sequence when required, but don't have to worry about stopping playback when that sequence is over. It worked for me since I had plenty of time to cue up the next list before that was needed.
