How to install Pages on iPad 2 with iOS 9?

I just found out that the Pages version that is available in the App Store is only working on iOS 10. My iPad cannot be updated from iOS9 to iOS10.

How can I install Pages in an earlier version?

We have purchased Pages for another iPad. Not sure whether on the same account. Will check. Thanks.

Can I be the only one who's heartily fed up with being pushed to update the hardware when there is absolutely no need to? Plus, I can't afford a new iPad at the moment, simply because I want to use Pages on my MacBook Pro and my iPad interchangeably.

I Have always been an Apple fan, always used Macs, but this is getting too much. My iPad is working fine, why should I be forced to update it like this over an issue with one app? Apple products aren't cheap!

iPad 2, 3 and 1st gen iPad Mini are 5 and 6 year old iPads.

In addition, these older iPads are older 32 bit supported iPads.

Apple is moving away from 32 bit hardware and software.

iOS 11, coming sometime in the fall, is reported to end support for 32 hardware and apps.

Meaning by the end of the year, all of the apps you're currently using on your iPad will no longer be able to update, at all!

Pages, Numbers and Keynote have moved to 64 bit status, now!

More app developers will be following.

This is why Apple introduced the new 2017, iPad 5 at the lowest price for a 9.7 inch iPad for both 32 GBs and 128 GBs storage models.

Apple wants to encourage ( and okay, force, but not necessarily immediately, before the end of 2017) older iPad users to move to modern mobile iDevices.

Older iPad users can keep using their older iPads and older iOS apps for as long as they want/can, but after 2017, posdibly, no more app updates and no more hardware support.

So, you'll have until the end of 2017 to decide whether to update your iDevices, or not.

I agree whole heartedly.  The marketing departments keep finding new ways to sell us something we already have.  In my case I had been happily using "pages" for very simple word processing work - switching conveniently between my mac and the iPad.  Then one day I find I can no longer open the files on my iPad.  I see from other comments that Apple want us to upgrade to 64 bit iPads which is complety unnecessary for word processing - the systems demands of which have hardy changed since 16 bit processors were the norm.

Operating systems and the word processing apps you speak of are ALL going to 64 bit code architecture in iOS.

Like it or not, kicking and screaming, ranting and raving, 32 bit coded apps are going away In iOS.

Apple changed over to 64 bit coded architectures, firmware and software long ago in OS X.

OS X software has been 64 bit coded for quite sometime.

It just took iOS much longer to play catch up.

Get used to it!

It may not be long before we have 128 bit coded hardware and software.

Technology marches on at an incredible pace.

You either keep up the best you can or you get left behind with computers and devices that will eventually become completely obsolete.

Your maybe able to survive with an older iPad 2, 3 or 4 for another year or so, but without any more 32 bit app updates, eventually older versions of apps will no longer work with their newer 64 bit versions.

Apple made the new 2017 iPad 5 as cheap as they could make and sell it and still make a profit to get users to stop clinging to their old 5-6 year old iDevices!

You can get a 32 GBs storage 9.7 inch screen iPad for barely over $300, now!

A 128 GBs storage 9.7 inch iPad for well under $500, now, too!

Just over 2 years, ago, a 128 GBs iPad used to sell for $799!
