Wifi dropping out after iOS 10

MY wifi is randomly shutting off after ios 10 upgrade.  Anyone elese?

Below is a User Tip about Wi-Fi issues. Suggest starting from the top and working down.

1) Restart you device. If a normal restart does not help, hold down these buttons at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears: a) the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume down button (iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus) or b) the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button (all other models)

2) Reset Network Settings:  Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.

3) Reboot Router/Modem:  Unplug from power for 2 minutes and plug again. Update Router Firmware (check manufacturer’s support website for a newer FW). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (20 MHz recommended for the 2.4 band). Channels 1, 6 or 11 are recommended for the 2.4 band.

4) Change to Google's DNS:  Settings > Wi-Fi > Click on the Network, Delete all numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or alternatively 8.8.4.4

5) Disable device prioritization on the router if this feature is available. Also disable any VPN apps and test Wi-Fi again.

6) Determine if other Wi-Fi devices on network are working well (other iOS devices, Macs, PCs).

7) Try device at another Network, i.e., neighbors’, public coffee house, etc.

8) Backup and Restore the Device using iTunes. Try restoring as New first and testing it. If ok try restoring the backup (the backup could be corrupted).

9) Go to an Apple store for hardware evaluation. The Wi-Fi chip or the antenna could be defective.

Same here, exactly after i updated to iOS 10 it now turns off the wifi. It's so random too but always happens.

did all this, it's only ever happened after I updated to iOS 10, so yeah its not hardware.

#1 did not work

#2. May have solved the problem.  It hasnt turned off the wifi switch yet over the past two hours of use.  It was very frequent before.  Fingers crossed

Glad to hear... good luck.

I Have the same issue. It's not all the time and has worked for the most part. I have an iPad Pro my phone works fine no issues

Have done all that twice.  Ipad Air2 wifi will still shut off by itself.  This happened after I started Ipad the next morning after shutting it off the night before.  Iphone 6 updated on ios 10 wifi does not shut off by itself.

If I start my ipad and the wifi button in settings is off the problem occurs.  If I start ipad and the wifi button is on I have no problem.  I never turn wifi button off, always have it set to on.

Wifi was connecting for a brief second then dropping. I had a VPN app on my iPhone 6 for over a year with no issues.  After deleting the app the issue was resolved.

Had this happen the first time after i let the ipad drain the battery and automatically shut off. After installing ios 10

WIfi would be on for a few minutes and then automatically shut off (unconnected to activity or inactivity), i'd turn it back on and the cycle would repeat.

Then did a hard reset,

toggle wifi sssist

toghle location services for wifi networking

(Did not reset networking)

(instructions from this https://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-fix-ios-10-wifi-issues-guide/)

THen it was fine for several days, until I let the battery it drain and autoshutoff again and the problem returned right after it started up again (after charging for a minute)

I followed the same instructions again and so far seems to work.

not a router or network issue. The issue is with the wifi function itself (get's turned off)

hope this helps figure and resolve the ios10 bug :-)

ipad min 4, wifi, cell, ios 10

I was having this same issue with my iPad Air 2 after updating to iOS 10.0.2, after several attempts to rectify with apple support (reset home wifi router, home/sleep reset, power down/restart, restore as new iPad, DFU/recovery mode restore) there was no success and I was directed to the Apple Store for further assistance. After explaining my issues and directing the genius to several internet links describing the issue they did not think it was an issue with iOS 10 and insisted it was a hardware issue. My iPad was replaced, unfortunately my new iPad has the exact same defect. Surely this must be an issue with iOS 10 and the iPad Air 2??? Does anyone from Apple get on these message boards???

i updated to 10.1 and it fixed the issue

Has 10.1 been publicly released yet or is it still only a Developers BETA release???

Beta

I thought as much. Last I read that iOS 10.1 was due later in the year and I think I'll wait for then.
