How to download iCloud Photos in iPhone without...

I recently erased all the data and restored my iPhone 6S Plus. The thing is, I forgot to do an iCloud backup before erasing it.

I just want to download all the photos I have from my iCloud to the iPhone, that's it. I don't really need anything else aside from that.

How do I do it without the backup?

Thanks.

Are the photos already stored in iCloud Photos?

Yes, they are. I just figure that they would automatically sync like my contacts and notes but apparently they don't. :/

What do you mean they're not syncing?  If they are in iCloud, the photos should be syncing to all of your other devices if applicable.

I mean the photos I have in the iCloud are not appearing in the Photos app on my iPhone.

Is iCloud Photos enabled on the device?

Hi xeloz01,

If you previously turned on iCloud Photo Library on your device, your photos and videos are already stored in iCloud, so they aren't included in your iCloud backup.

Assuming that your pictures where already in iCloud Photo Library, your just need to turn it back on.  Turn on iCloud Photo Library. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos, or go to Settings > Photos.

Here’s what iCloud Backup includes: What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support

  • App data
  • Apple Watch backups
  • Call history
  • Device settings
  • Health data
  • HomeKit configuration
  • Home screen and app organization
  • iMessage, text (SMS), and MMS messages
  • Photos and videos on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch1
  • Purchase history from Apple services, like your music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books2
  • Ringtones
  • Visual Voicemail password (requires the SIM card that was in use during backup)
