Macbook Pro spee

My Macbook:

13-inch mid 2012

Processor: 2.5 ghz intel core i5

memory: 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3

and I have a 500gb Macintosh HD

And my macbook is running macOS Sierra 10.12.5

I have been on this site before trying to troubleshoot why my mac has been running slowly, I have also completed the diagnostic progrma that people also reccomend on this site (can't remember the name) and my Macbook performed well, but to me it is still running slow.

Would pumping money into upgrading my hardrive to an SSD or improving the memory imrpove the speed of my mac? And be worth it?
