MacBook Pro won't boot:have tried everything I ...

My MacBook Pro is showing a grey screen on startup.

I have tried the following things so far but still no luck. I have tried, and failed, to get past grey screen by booting into safe mode, booting from Time Machine backups on external hdd, booting into recovery mode, resetting PRAM and SMC.

I have booted into the Apple Hardware Test and run both the normal and the extended diagnostics without any errors being found.

I have booted into single user mode several times and ran the fsck command. The first couple of times it threw up an invalid directory item count with the actual value being one greater than the desired value, but it said it repaired these, and it now doesn't throw up these errors.

If I boot in verbose mode it gets as far as the screen grab below before grey screening.

Does anybody have any suggestion as to what else I can try?

The screen grab is invisible.

Yeh, it would appear that the Apple website doesn't like me trying to upload images from iPhone!

Few suspect looking bits towards the end ....

Hi am having this exact issue with a 2011 macbook pro running sierra.

I'll add my experience in case it helps?

It freezes at the exact same place.

Occasionaly - i boots up and everythign works 100%, then next time - stuck again.

One time I tried it dozens of times - nothing, then unplugged the charger and it was fine.

Another time plugging in the charger seemed to make it work

Another time I took out one memory module - it was fine for a while - then after updating on appstore it rebooted and it stuck at the exact same spot.

Chimes

Apple logo

Password

Apple logo with status bar - about 1/4

If it works the screen goes white then grey then the status bar comes aback and it boots into the desktop.

If it doesnt work (uch more common) the screen goes white and its stuck.

I cant boot into recovery mode or safe mode.

Ctl s works - sanning the drive finds no errors

ctl v works - thats ow I found the same text as you.

option works - but it wont boot from the HD / USB or anywhere - it makes no difference.

clearing ram and power settings makes no difference

removing battery makes no difference

But when it does boot up - everything is fine.

Argh!!
