iPad MP242LL/A IOS 11 "Hey Siri" no response

I was on IOS 11 beta & have upgraded to the latest release however I noticed today that "Hey Siri" elicits no response.  If I hold the 'home 'button' I get a normal "Siri" response but if I call her she will not respond.  It did work on an earlier release but I am not sure which one.  Has anybody else experienced this on an iPad 5th generation?

I have the new iPad Pro and have the exact same issue after the update.  Get a brief flash like it's listening, then nothing. After about 10 tries, it finally responds. A lot like talking to kids! 

Are you trying to get Siri when the screen is locked (off) ?  If so try this:-

• Open Settings. ...
• Scroll down and tap Touch ID & Passcode. ...
• Enter your pass-code. ...
• Scroll down to the section ALLOW ACCESS WHEN LOCKED and tap the switch icon beside Siri.
