Video issue on 2017 27 inch iMac

I'm using a brand new 2017 27 inch iMac with 3 projectors at my church.  Two of the projectors are operated thru an HDMI splitter, which is connected to one of the USB-C ports with an HDMI adapter.  The other projector is hooked up to the other USB-C port with a VGA adapter.   On boot up of the computer, the screens don't recognize the signal and just keep searching.  The ONLY way it works, is if I manually switch the two cables from the USB-C ports they are in.  It runs fine then.  BUT if I shut down the computer and start over, I lose the screens again.  Then I have to swap the cables again.   Is anyone else having problems with using more than one screen with the latest model of iMac?
