Verification Failed.

Can't access iCloud after downloading iOS8.0.  After downloading iOS8.0 I cannot join iCloud.  Message I receive is "Verification Failed.  There was an error connecting to iCloud."  When I go to My Apple ID on my computer, I can access my iCloud account.  Now my iPad won't access the internet.

I had the same problem here, I couldn't access to my icloud. I have tried rebooting my ipad and resetting my profiles a few times, still it didn't work out.

I had received similar messages as you did.

My device is a ipad 4 with WIFI, ios8.

Thanks for responding.  Sorry you're having the same problem, happy that I'm not alone.  I hope Apple does a quick patch soon.  Thanks again.

Spent about an hour on the telephone with Apple customer service.  They walked me through wiping my iPad clean and reinstalling the software.  I continue to have the same problem.  After waiting on hold for about 15 minutes, I was told the problem seems to be with the iCloud servers which are overloaded and running very slow.  I was told my home computer and iPad are fine.  The fix - wait a few days and everything should be fine when the iCloud servers are less stressed as a result of the release of iOS 8.0.

The connections to the icloud server is not stable. It sometimes works, sometime doesn't. It drives me crazy, and I am so fed up.

I had successfully connected to the icloud server for a few times, but weren't last long. And I am still getting the messages like verification failed, error connecting to icloud.

Yeah, man. It is so screwed up.

As of late this afternoon, I have been connected continuously to iCloud.  The first thing I did was shut off everything having to do with the iCloud so that I could continue to use my iPad.  I did a backup to my computer and will continue to do so until the problem is fixed.  I'm sure the bugs will be worked out eventually.  It taught me a powerful lesson.  When Apple comes up with an upgrade to their software, I'm going to be one of the last ones to download it rather than one of the first ones.  My Apple friends who know of my problem have all decided to keep iOS 7.1.2 for at least another month to make sure Apple has most of the bugs worked out of it before they put it on their machines.  Thanks again for the info.

This worked for me.  Good luck!!

https://alliosnews.com/2013/09/20513/It is being widely reported that some users are experiencing errors with iCloud after upgrading to iOS 7.  The issue has to do with the iCloud Terms & Conditions which were changed with the new version of iOS.  After upgrading, users are prompted to accept the new iCloud Terms & Conditions but when they attempt to do so they get a “Unable to connect to server” error.  This then disables iCloud on their device.

iCloud site from an iPhone

If you have experienced this error here is how to get around the error.

  • On your iPhone or iPad go to https://www.icloud.com.  There you will see the options to setup iCloud on your device, Install Find My iPhone and Install Find My Friends.
  • Tap the Install Find My Friends – even if you already have it installed.  This will then take you to the App Store where you can either install Find My Friends or open it if you already have it installed.
  • You will be prompted for your iCloud password.  Enter it then you will see a dialog box saying that the iCloud Terms & Conditions have changed and you need to accept them.  Tap on View to view the iCloud Terms & Conditions then tap Agree at the bottom of the page.

This should solve the problem for you and iCloud will immediately begin working on all of your devices once again.

Ultimately what is causing the problem is unclear as the servers are obviously available as you can get to the T&Cs through this backdoor.

Sorry meant to add - I am on an iPhone 6 with ios8 - even though article relates to ios7.

Just resetting your network settings will solve the problem.

Never posted before I had the same issue on my 4s running IOs8. I am currently in China where VPN connections are a way of life. I had inadvertently turned on my regular VPN while testing a "better" one and could not get mail. Trying to login to my account produced the  error. above. I (eventually) turned off the VPN service and BOOM 47 emails. Hope this helps someone.

WWhat can I do

Had same problem. Go to >settings>general>reset>reset network settings &follow prompts. Fixed mine & took only 2 hrs to sort it . Hope this helps
