iTunes 12.7 not supported on Mavericks. How to ...

Hi, it seems that iTunes 12.7 is not supported on OS X Mavericks. My question is that it says in the release notes about support for iOS 11, does this mean that without the latest iTunes 12.7 I cannot get iOS 11 on my iPhone?

I currently have Mavericks 10.9.5, iPhone 6 and iTunes 12.6.2.20
