Install Sierra on external SSD

I want to install Sierra to an external SSD. I downloaded the installer from the app store.

But when i launch the installer, the first window asks me to restart the computer.

Before continuing, i want to be sure, after the reboot, i can choose the destination volume, or he directely upgrade my internal disk to Sierra? (I'm currently on Lion). I don't want to upgrade, but clean install on the external volume.

After the download completes the screen that results will contain a 'destination' dialog (at the bottom) choose the external from it.

When you launch the installer, the first thing you should see is a button that says Continue under it. Click that. The next screen automatically chooses the drive you're booted to as the destination, along with the Install and Back buttons. Click the Show All Disks… button to choose a different destination.

Hello Judasnanas,

This link may be of help in this situation. It is not guaranteed to work because you are on Lion which is an older OS but I would give it a try.
