iOS files and OneDrive

When I use the files app on ios11 to view OneDrive files, the file structures on iPad and iPhone are different. An entire directory is missing. If I open the OneDrive app, I see the same files on both devices. Can anyone explain what the problem is with ios11 and why the files app is so inconsistent. Many thanks in anticipation of a solution.
