Why am I having problems updating my apps on my...

Every time I try to update my apps it asks for me to verify my debit card info and when I do it try’s to charge it. I have ever little money on that card bc I don’t really use it that often. I called iTunes and the lady told me I need to buy 2 $100 iTunes card and it doesn’t make since to me.
