Turn off frequently visited in safari?

How do I turn off the frequently visited section in the safari search bar?

You may alter the number of sites shown by using Safari's menu:
Safari > Preferences > General > Top Sites Shows

But displaying zero frequently visited sites is not an option.

You can. Right-mouse click in the 'frequently visited websites' area, and select 'hide frequently visited websites'
