No option to generate a new password in "securi...

BusyContacts, an application for macOS, is directing me to generate a new, "app-specific" password. Both the BusyContacts support resources and Apple resources say that you can do this by clicking a link in the "security" section in my Apple ID page. While there is a Security section, there is link for generating a new password.

I assume either that I'm doing something wrong; that there is a section/option for generating a new password, but that it only appears if you have some or other setting/status enabled on your device, or the information is outdated.

Does anyone have a thought or solution re: what could be the problem?

When you log in to https://appleid.apple.com/ and look in the Security section (without clicking any Edit buttons), does it show that either two-step verification or two-factor authentication is on (immediately below the "Change Password " link there)?

If not, then app-specific passwords would not be available. If yes, the Generate Password link should be just to the right of that.

You need to enable 2 Factor Authentication on your Apple ID to create an app specific password to use. If your account won’t allow 2 Factor Authentication, try 2 step verification.
