way to delete Audiobook from iPod nano?

Is there a way that I can delete an audiobook off of my iPod nano (6th gen) and not delete it off of my iTunes account? This way I could go back and listen to it again but not have it taking up space on my iPod?
I've downloaded audiobooks from the public library into Itunes and the ipod nano 6. I've had some problems doing it at first. However now that I've done it for a while I really like it and how the ipod handles audiobooks.
The obvious answer is to delete the audiobooks from Itunes when your ipod nano isn't connected to it.
I assume though that the audiobooks are on the ipod but not in Itunes, but you can see them in Itunes when you have the ipod connected.
They're most likely WMA audiobooks that are converted to ACC format when they're put on the ipod. I don't think you can put them in Itunes itself. MP3 audiobooks are stored both in Itunes and on the ipod, so you can delete them from the ipod and still keep them in Itunes.
If this doesn't help, please go into more detail about what you situation is exactly. Where did you get the audiobooks from and how did you get them into Itunes and/or the ipod? What format were/are the audiobooks in WMA, ACC MP3 or whatever?
The audiobook in question came off of iTunes and is stored both on my iPod and in iTunes (on my iPod it's stored under the "purchased" playlist only). Once I pull it up on my iPod, it will only play it again and i can't find anyway to delete it off of my iPod. I want to keep it in iTunes in case I want to listen to it again.
The audiobooks that came off of Audible, are stored in a different playlist and have an edit button where I can delete them.
If you connect your ipod nano to your computer and bring up Itunes, Itunes should show your ipod under Devices on the left-hand side. If you highlight your ipod, Itunes will display info about it. In order to delete the audiobook from the ipod you should check the box next to manually manage music.
If you then double click on your ipod it should show the playlists or folders on it. If know where the audiobook is click on that folder. All audiobooks and/or music in the folder will be displayed. Delete each part of the audiobook you want deleted then click sync in the lower right hand corner. The audiobook should be deleted from you ipod but still be in Itunes.
If you want to stop manageing music manually you should be sure the audiobook is unchecked in Itunes or it will be synced back to the ipod.

I'm curious, where is the edit button to delete the audiobooks from Audible?

I want to delete several downloaded books that are taking up room on my iPod Nano. The books are not showing up in my iTunes account.  No idea why. I only see them listed on my iPod screen. How do I manually remove them?

I've a 2nd gen Nano .  Why can't i remove audiobooks copied from library CD's.  I mean how do i do this?

i followed your steps.  but delete doesnt come up as a possibility.  Why are we all having the same problem?
