Somehow my main Apple Mail ID has become corrupted . . . a bit.

A frequent writer's name and email address now often show up as Sender when I have actually sent the message.

How can I undo that?

In Mail>Prefs>Composing, what does it say for the 3 Addressing items?

They  are all three correct. Mine at gmail, my wife's the same, and I also use icloud.

Where is this showing up, on your end or the other end?

It seems to me that when I send off a normal email, to myself or my wife, the other name gets tagged on there, when we receive the mail.

But I just noticed four message that carried the wrong designation suddenly corrected themselves in the past few hours. Go figger!

Alice was right. Curiouser and curiouser!

Sometimes, when I have received a message with that wrong sender on it, if I click on the message, the name changes! But that's no guarantee it won't change back.

Today I received a message from a long-time friend from way out of town, and instead of just his name as sender, his combined with the wrong one, so it looks like the message if from two people. Who don't know each other!

Second-hand device, not thoroughly cleansed of the previous owner?
