Moving PDF files from iBooks to iCloud Drive.

I would like to move my PDF files that I have in iBooks to the iCloud drive so that they could be accessed from other apps like "PDF Expert".  Can anyone tell me if that is possible outside of emailing each PDF file to myself and then opening them in PDF Expert to then store on the iCloud Drive?

Hi Kendal0505,

If your profile information is correct, the only way you can get PDF files to automatically sync with your iCloud Drive is to update to iOS 9.3.1 and OS X 10.11.4.

Sync ePub, iBooks Author books, and PDF files with iBooks and iCloud

Use iBooks to sync ePub, iBooks Author books, and PDF files with iCloud Drive so that you can access them on all of your devices.

The first time that you open iBooks after you update to iOS 9.3 or OS X 10.11.4, you'll be prompted to use iCloud. If you don't see the prompt, you might need to set up iCloud Drive.

You can use iBooks and iCloud Drive to sync ePub, iBooks Author books, and PDF files so that you can access them on all of your devices. After you turn on iCloud Drive, all files automatically upload to iCloud*. Any ePub, iBooks Author book, or PDF file that you add to your iBooks library later also automatically upload to iCloud*.

Take care,

Can anyone teach me how to sync my files from iBooks to iCloud drive, currently I'm in iOS 10, I did already the set up, I want to know what's next?IMG_0708.JPG

I know seriously! I can't figure this out either. Maybe there's a 3rd party app out there that will move them, why hasn't Apple solved this yet??

I was having trouble syncing myself - until I performed a hard reset of both my iPad and iPhone.

With the devices running, Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. The iPad and iPhone will restart and the next time you open iBooks, it asks if you want to use iCloud for storage and allow syncing with other devices.

It it takes time to upload all content in iBooks to iCloud.

I hope this helps.

I even tried hard reset, but my pdf files in iBooks are nowhere in icloud Drive, only the ones I have uploaded from another apps.

Whenever I create a pdf file from Safari, iBooks shows the iCloud drive icon like it is syncing, but where does it go? I have enough space in iCloud.

It seems iBooks with iCloud drive is unreliable.

I was having these same issues myself but after playing around with it for a while, I believe I figured out the issue. When you open a file it gives you the option to either click "More..." or "Open in iBooks". I think once you choose to open it in iBooks (with the expectation of it displaying on your iCloud Drive as told by Apple) there is no way to export it to your drive. However, if you click "More...", there is an option to save the document to your iCloud Drive from which where you will be able to see it. I've attached photos for a better understanding and I sure hope this resolves the question being asked because it is extremely frustrating when you have a drive and sync the app to it by nothing shows up on the drive at all.IMG_5380.JPGIMG_5378.PNGIMG_5379.PNG

Syncing iBooks using iCloud means pdfs should be synced to the iBooks app on your other devices. pdfs don't actually sync to “iCloud Drive”. To get the pdfs from iBooks into iCloud Drive. Open the pdf, tap print, pinch open, tap the share icon and add to iCloud Drive.

Thank you, thank you!

Hi Picas - I'm probably being thick but want do you mean by "pinch open" step? I'm trying to move pdfs from iBooks to iCloud Drive and I'm following your steps but I'm stuck on this....help...
