+1 credit?

In my itunes store account in the top right hand corner it lists the remaining balance on my account (from redeemed gift cards) and next to the amount it says +1 credit (ex: $25.00 + 1 credit).

What is this credit? How do I redeem it? I have no idea where it came from or if it's even valid...

Any ideas?

It's a free credit for one song, video of other item. If you look under the "Welcome, <your name>, it will say what the credit is good for.

It's certainly valid. It was give you by the iTunes Store, perhaps as compensation for a defective item. To just it, just buy something of the same type as the credit. The iTunes Store will automatically charge against that credit.

Regards.

I have both dollars and a credit for a video ($7.95 + 1 credit). I want to redeem the credit before the dollars. Is that possible? If I "purchase" a video, will it automatically use the "1 credit" for the video?

I can't even find the "Welcome, <your name>" part...

I've had this stupid credit for years and have no idea how to use it.

Well, this post is from 7 years ago...

Click Store at top.

Click Account on the right side.

Under the Account Information, you'll see Apple ID Balance:

This will show you what the credit is for and what the balance is (if you have one).

I purchased a song that had a very bad hiss thought the entire song. They gave me back $1.57 (what I paid for that song) plus credited me for 1 more song.

As said, this is a old post, but in case someone else needs the answer,   Free Credits are used first.  Then Store Credit,  then the credit card or debit card on file.
