Controlling what goes on iCloud

Hello!

I am trying to figure out a way to control what goes on my iCloud. Everything on my phone, I would like to be backed up (which it is). However, on my Late 2016 (I Believe) MacBook Pro, I would not like EVERYTHING to go on the iCloud. When I try to turn iCloud off, the files seem to become corrupted which is concerning because I cannot lose this information. It seems as though my computer is using the iCloud as the main/ first source of storage. And I would like to choose what goes on the iCloud. Mostly for space on the iCloud (I've already upgraded storage to the $2.99 a month) but security issues. While seemingly convenient to have documents available at your finger tips, also sort of scary as well.

Please advise, thank you!

What, specifically, are you referring to? You control what the Mac syncs with iCloud via iCloud Preferences on the Mac. Can you tell us what, exactly, you are trying to do?

Cheers,

GB
