iOS 10.3.2 update has bricked my 12.9" iPad Pro!

I've never had such a horrible experience with an Apple product. What makes it even more painful is that my iPad Pro has been a workhorse for several years now that I use daily. Now it's a brick that I can't get working despite many hours of attempts. I'm getting ready to chuck it out of the window!

So I got the message that a new update 10.3.2 was ready to install yesterday so I selected to install it (BIG mistake!).  When it rebooted it was stuck on the rotating wheel. That was distressing but I've had to restore an iPad in the past so I figured it would be a pain but not that big of a deal. So I put it in restore mode and connected it to my Mac and told iTunes to restore it. iTunes downloaded the update and installed it. I had to select "setup as new iPad" since I didn't have any current backups on my Mac (Why can't you select iCloud backups in iTunes?!). Anyway after I finished all the setup on the iPad, I went into it and erased it again, so that this time I could select my iCloud backup from the night before. Went through the setup again, and it seemed to be fine with all my apps gradually downloading. I closed the case cover and hooked it up to power and thought I was done.

This is where the nightmare begins. A few hours later I hear the iPad repeatedly making the little ding sound it makes when you first connect it to power. I opened the lid of the case to see the iPad is stuck on the rotating wheel again! WTH?! I tried unlocking it, and hooking it up to iTunes to no avail. (iTunes told me it was locked and I needed to put in my passcode which of course I could not do.) So I put it into restore mode AGAIN, and repeated all of the above steps AGAIN, but this time selected a backup from a day earlier, thinking that maybe there was something wrong with my backup. Again everything seemed to be fine, but when I was about to go to bed, I heard the repeated chime it makes when hooked up to power and when I looked at it sure enough it was back at the spinning wheel. Disgusted I held down both the home button and the power button to turn it off and pulled out the power cable.

This morning I tried turning it on and now I just get the Apple logo. And when I turn it off by pressing the power button and home button together for a few seconds, it turns itself back on again! And it remains stuck at the Apple logo. I put it into restore mode (AGAIN!) and hooked it up to my Mac and had iTunes restore it, but this time when it rebooted I just get the white Apple logo, the repeating chime and iTunes tells me that the iPad is locked. This is truly a nightmare! I don't even know what to do next. Is there a way to roll-back to iOS 10.3.1?

Hi. Too late for a rollback. You should make an appointment at an Apple Store and get some professional help.

Actually I was able to install 10.3.1 after looking up the instructions (still signed by Apple) and to restore my iPad. However I don't know if it's going to be OK since I got that far with 10.3.2 as well and then it would flip out, reboot, and get stuck in a loop. It's possible the same thing could happen with 10.3.1, but I'm hoping it won't and I can just wait until 10.3.3 before I upgrade.

How did you do the rollback?  I can't get my 9.7 inch iPad Pro to respond to me at all!

Thanks.

Best to bring it to a professional or your trusted Apple Store for a fix.

They removed my link because it contained a reference to jailbreaking. However I did NOT jailbreak to roll back. I simply downloaded the 10.3.1 update for my device and installed it via iTunes after putting the the iPad into restore mode. I had to press the option key on my Mac when I clicked restore in itunes so that I could manually select the update file to use. Just google "rollback to ios 10.3.1" and you should find more detailed instructions. For the record my iPad has worked perfectly since rolling back to 10.3.1. *****

Perhaps, but seriously?!! For an update?! This is a software problem they need to acknowledge and fix. And I seriously doubt the would be able to fix it at the store since it looked fine! When I installed 10.3.2 via iTunes I thought everything was OK since it looked OK at first, but a few hours later I was back to a boot loop. So imagine how frustrating it would be to drive all the way to an Apple store (there aren't any close to me - it's like a half-hour drive one way) have them do what I did at home, see that everything looks OK and send me on my way only to have it go bad shortly after I get home. No thanks - that would just infuriate me even more.

Apple is having a LOT more issues with battery drain in iPhones with iOS 10.3.2.

My large iPad Pro has had no issue with iOS 10.3.2.

And other than your post, no one else is reporting your bricking issue on iPads or iPad Pros in the iPad forums.

Yours continues to be the only such posting.

So, until tens of thousands of users post the same or similar issue to yours,  in these support community forums,  there is no reason for Apple to look into or admit to a problem that appears to be just a random anomaly.

Your call, but your iPad Pro could be exhibitng a hardware issue and NOT necesarily a software one since the iOS 10.3.2 update threw your iPad Pro into a boot loop.

This could be indicative of a hardware issue, too!

I would just take it in to Apple and have them do a diagnosis.

Explain to them what had happened.

Maybe have them do the iOS 10.3.2 update in-store so they can test/

I would agree with you that it could be hardware, except when I rolled back to 10.3.1 it works perfectly again, and it worked perfectly with every update until 10.3.2. So there is a software problem here. I don't expect Apple to do anything about it honestly. I'm planning to wait until the next update and install that one via iTunes, rather than try to update "in place".

Here's the solution that worked for me.

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

I am having the similar problems With my iPad Pro 12.9 since the iOS 10.3.2 update.  I can only use it for a few minutes and then whether I'm using an app or on a website or playing a game, the screen will just go black and the iPad shuts down.  It just is not functionin.
