iPad Air2 charging issues ios11
Like some others have posted, since I updated my iPad Air2 to ios11.0.2, charging has either been extremely slow (taking twice as long than ios10) to not charging at all even though the battery depicts charging. I am using authentic Apple cables and still the problem persists.
This morning for example, my iPad showed the battery at a 59% charge level. I plugged it in and after an hour, the battery still shows a 59% level. Yes, I checked to make sure the cable was plugged all the into my device and yes, I unplugged and replugged from the device. However, this weird issue with not or slow charging only occurred after upgrading to ios11.0.2.
Greetings cheeriegirl,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
I see that you are having an issue with your iPad Air 2 charging slowly after updating to iOS 11. It's important to make sure that you can charge your device without any issues, so I'll be happy to help.
I suggest following the steps in this support article: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t charge, specifically:
If your device charges slowly or won’t charge
Follow these steps and try again after each:
- Check your charging cable and USB adapter for signs of damage, like breakage or bent prongs.* Don't use damaged accessories.
- Use a wall power outlet and check for firm connections between your charging cable, USB wall adapter, and wall outlet, or try a different outlet.
- Remove any debris from the charging port on the bottom of your device, then firmly plug your charging cable into your device. If the charging port is damaged, your device probably needs service.
- Let your device charge for a half hour (If your device is unresponsive afterward, learn what to do).
- Force restart your device:
- On an iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Then press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Finally, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
- On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold both the Side and Volume Down buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
- On an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch: Press and hold both the Home and Top (or Side) buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
- Let your device charge for another half hour.
- If your device still won’t power on or charge, take your device, charging cable, and charging adapter to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for evaluation. You can also contact Apple Support.
Additionally, I recommend checking this support article for help checking the battery usage, and to adjust the settings to improve battery life: About the battery usage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Best Regards.
