IPad dock disappeared?

I updated my iPad to iOS 11 recently and so far everything has been fine. Yesterday my dock disappeared from my main screen. I have to swipe up for it to appear. I’ve tried finding a solution but I can’t. Does anyone know how to get the dock to stay visible on my iPad without having to swipe up?
