I don't know the password to my iCloud email ac...

I Downloaded an app that keeps all address' in one place. I went to add my iCloud email and when asked for my password, nothing I tried worked. It is obviously not the same password that I use to login to my Apple or iTunes account. How do I find out my password?

Hi Kim,

The password for your iCloud account and your Apple ID are one in the same, as the iCloud email account is an alias for your Apple ID as well.

After you set up your @icloud.com email address, you can use it to sign in to iCloud. You can also sign in using the Apple ID you used to create your iCloud account.

iCloud: Set up an @icloud.com email address

Hi kimbo62,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

If you do not recall the password for your Apple ID that you use for iCloud, you can reset it by following the directions in the article linked to below.

Take care,

Thank you Alex for responding.

I know my login credentials for signing into my icloud account.

My Apple ID is a Hotmail address with a password, to get access into my iCloud account.

But, after making my account I was given the option to create an  iCloud email address.

This is the address to which I can't remember the password.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Kim

This is not working for me. I'm trying the same thing. Add my iCloud email to an app for all email accounts and everything I try does not work. I know my Apple ID password but it is not working for the email iCloud account.

I have the same problem.

When I first setup my phone 4-5 years ago I used a different email address for iCloud than my apple id.  At that time I didn't really know what the purpose of either was.  So for iCloud I used my email address that is: xxxx@yahoo.com, NOT xxxx@iCloud.com

I cannot remember the password I used for xxx@yahoo.com in iCloud, so I can't even restore the phone to default settings as it requires me turn off "Find my Phone" which in turn requires me to enter the iCloud password.

It's this crazy circle and no one seems to be able to help!

What can I do??

Sorry, I'm confused. If you set up your Apple account with an iCloud.com email address, why wouldn't you use the iCloud.com email address for email?

If you set up a totally separate Apple account, then you will have to go to: Apple - My Apple ID, click on Forgot Password, type in your @yahoo.com address, then answer the Security Questions in order to be able to reset the password on that account. If you don't remember the answers to your Security Questions, you will have to contact Apple Support to get a reset link: ACCOUNT SECURITY SUPPORT

Best of luck,

GB

I've never been able to use iCloud at all, because the email address associated with my iCloud is neither an iCloud address nor an Apple ID.  So the link to 'reset apple id' keeps telling me that my @yahoo.com address is "Not an Apple ID".  Thus the crazy circular issue.

OK, if it is saying that it is not an Apple ID, then it isn't an Apple ID anymore. Have you tried entering your current Apple ID password when you are requested to do so for the @yahoo.com account? If that doesn't work, then try typing in your iCloud.com address and password to see if you can sign out.

Based on the message you are getting, either the @yahoo.com address you are typing in is not correct (and trust me, I just spent 20 minutes trying to get an old non-apple domain ID signed in, and could not seem to get it typed in correctly, so it kept telling me it wasn't an Apple ID.... ), or, you changed that Apple account Apple ID to a different email address. Have you tried logging into your iCloud.com email address at: Apple - My Apple ID to see what the Apple ID email is?

Once we get this part straightened out, we can talk about the iCloud account.

Yes, I did try to enter my Apple ID password for my yahoo iCloud address and it didn't work.

There is no option for me to change my iCloud email to my Apple ID. It's greyed out as my yahoo address.

I do not have a working iCloud email to login to iCloud.com

OK, I was under the impression you were encountering the Activation Lock, but it sounds like you are just trying to turn off Find My iPhone, is that correct?

So, again, if you are getting the message that the @yahoo.com address you are putting in is not an Apple ID, then it was changed. I'm assuming you can see the entire @yahoo.com address in Settings>iCloud? If so, and if that is the address that is saying that it is not an Apple ID, then that address was changed at some point on the Apple account.

Again, have you tried putting in your current Apple ID password? See if that works.

If it doesn't, then you need to sign in to whatever your Apple ID account currently is, and see if you can temporarily change the email address to the @yahoo.com one on that account. Do not change the password: Apple - My Apple ID

If you are able to change it to the old ID, then go back and sign it out on the device. Then go back to the Apple account and change it back to your current email address.
