I want to update my iPad mini to ios 10 but it's stuck in iOS 9.3.5 and I tried updating from the settings but i didn't try updating using iTunes because I don't know how

The original iPad mini cannot be updated beyond iOS 9.3.5

The iPad Mini 2, 3, and 4 can be updated to the current iOS (11.0.3).
