Do Notes sync if iOS 11 on iPhone and not on ipad

I have an iPhone 7 eligible to be upgraded to iOS 11, and I have an iPad 4 that is not eligible (using 10.3.3, the last release for this model iPad). 

If I upgrade my iPhone to iOS 11, what sycnc functions between the two devices will not work?  I am most concerned about Notes I use between devices and my MacBook Air.  Would I be able to see/edit Notes on all devces?

The answer depends on where your notes are housed, and, if you house your notes in iCloud, whether you are using the latest version of the Notes app.

If your notes are in iCloud, you could see the notes on the iPhone and iPad.  The MacBook Air would need at least OS X El Capitan (or later), and require the upgraded Notes app to see the notes.
