MacBook Pro 15" 2016 Touch Bar audio/sound quality

An issue just came up this week with my 15" MBP Touch Bar laptop (macOS Sierra 10.12.5) when using the internal speakers.  After anywhere from a few seconds to a couple minutes of audio output (either a ripped DVD using DVD Player, an MP4 file using VLC, or audio files with iTunes), the sound becomes rather muffled and a little distorted.  This doesn't appear to happen with my BeatsX headphones or if I plug earphones into the headphone jack, just the internal speakers.  I can restore good audio by switching between these inputs, but the internal speakers always revert to the muffled state after a short period of time.  Anyone else seen this?  Anyone know how to fix it?

Make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service. If needed find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple. It's under warranty.
