Why won’t my app store work without a cre...

So, I am trying to update my apps and download some free ones, but ever since the new update, it will not let me without my credit card information inside. All of these apps are free or are already downloaded, so I don’t understand why it would need any money.

It doesn't need money to download app updates, you might be being asked for card details for a number of reasons e.g. if you owe iTunes money, verification of your id and that you have a valid billing address in the country.

Log in to edit purchase balances or something like that. Then it directs me to my debit card information.
