Help with disabled iPad 4

My iPad 4 has been disabled as I forgot the passcode. It says disabled connect to iTunes, but when I try to connect to iTunes I get a message saying I can't connect as the iPad is disabled.  Help welcome!

I would like to keep data on my iPad if possible.

Thank you, but problem I have is I can not connect to iTunes, when I try I get a message saying I can't as IPad locked!

Follow the instructions on that link, if you scroll half-way down it you will find instructions for recovery mode
