Recovery of hard drive files on 2010 Macbook Pro

I brought my Macbook pro into repair service store a while ago since it wasn't turning on and they determined it was a dead motherboard. I want to recover the files off the hard drive and have no idea how to go about it. Should I bring it into Apple? Will they be able to do it for me? Or are there other places that provide this service? Not sure if I'd be able to do it myself, I now have a non-Apple laptop instead.
