Fixing Autocorrect

If I hit the space bar after typing the letter “I” using my keyboard I automatically get the following symbol I

Autocorrect has somehow defaulted the letter ”I“ to this strange symbol .... This clearly poses a serious problem with typing pretty much anything since I have to touch the screen to select the letter after I type it ... would appreciate if anyone knows how to remove this particular auto-correction...have shared a screenshot to demonstrate the problem
