Unmountable HDD: remove before recovery?
During a recent update the HDD to my 2012 Mac Mini became unmountable (flashing folder, etc.)
Various attempts at booting off of a flash drive and CD still didn't make it detectable in Disk Utility or other recovery programs.
Would removing it and putting it into an external enclosure possibly help the recovery efforts? My thinking is that the system might not be detecting it via the current pathway and a USB connection might work. Of course, I could be wrong, so I'm asking here.
Thanks!
It's possible that the problem is with the connection instead of the drive, but it probably isn't.
