Wifi knocked out by usb

Hi folks,

Just go a new MacBook Pro 13" with Touch Bar. Have been trying to connect to the internet for 3 hours to no avail. Disconnected my Aukey USB-C to USB/HDMI adaptor and all of a sudden I instantly connect.

Is anyone else getting problems with wifi and adaptors? Is it the Mac or the Adaptor?

Your Aukey hub might have a problem. Contact their customer service and get an exchange (it supposedly has a 2 year warranty)... Cheers!

Just so people are aware, there is a really cheap fix I've found for this - Apple's own £9 USBc-USB adaptor doesn't cause any interference, sadly it does have as many ports as my Aukey did, nor does it have the HDMI option, but if you just want some quick data transfer with older devices etc. this is certainly one way around it.

I have the same problem with my 2016 MacBook and an Anker USB-c hub.  I think they emit interference at 2.4 GHz using the USB3.0 and interfere with 2.4 GHz Wifi. I'm sort of OK if I have access to a 5 GHz network.

Yes I have the same problem.

USB-C interferes with 2gHz communications which I also discovered while using a USB-C dongle.  Switch to your router's 5K communications and everything will work fine.  You could also try getting a USB-C cord with better shielding and running the adapter further away from the laptop.

Apparently i have tried and solved this wifi interference problem with a simple hack (I'm using USB-C to HDMI dongle).

I wrapped a rubber band (the thick one, the one looks like a wristband) around the USB-C jack handle. It seems to be working and my wifi speed seems normal (i've done speed test also). I found this simple hack is hard to believe. Tell me if this worked for you too.

Cheers
