Is there a way to make music my wake screen WHI...

The new Apple Watch update bums me out. As an avid runner, I wish I was given the option to leave music as the wake screen WHILE my outdoor run app is running the background. The original system was the best. Now I have to scroll back not just one but two screens to get back to my music while I run? This has slowed me down. The music option was the reason I got the Apple Watch over the others. Can this be rectified or should I switch to a different brand? Thank you!
