moving photos and data from iphone to mac witho...

i have to solve a problem that is making me crazy after doing it for five years.

i have a mac pro (lots of storage) a mac air (not much storage) and a iphone.

when i have to EDIT a photo on the mac pro i edit it and save it to dropbox if i want access to it. but some apps on the iphone only accept images from the photos app. so i have to EMAIL IT TO MYSELF and download it to the photos app on the iphone.

if i have a photo on my iphone and i want to edit it on the mac pro or save it to the mac pro or whatever i have to EMAIL IT TO MYSELF - and download it and save it etcetera etcetera - so that i have access to it.

this is the same for documents or any other data that i need to transfer between devices.

can someone help me sort this out?

right now i don't have photo sync (or whatever) turned on since i UPLOAD all my photos manually to the APERTURE application on my mac pro. also, if i do turn on this sync my hard drive on my laptop gets so cluttered up with photos there is no room for anything else.

is there some method to transfer information easily from the mac air to the mac pro to the iphone that does not involve email? i tried air drop at one point but for some functional reason was not using it.
