Installer payload failed error during clean rei...

Swapping out internal 512GB HD to a 1TB SSD in a mid 2010 MacBook Pro 6,2. Getting "Installer payload failed signature check". Have tried: 1. System date updates 2. Using bootable installer disk created from a new download of Sierra (per Apple support) 3. Installing directly from external disk with a working OS 4. Installing using recovery partition on old disk 5. 2nd replacement ssd (OWC) to rule out hardware. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Update:  Apologies for lateness but in the interest of being complete and in case this helps someone else.  Finally figured out how to do a hardware diagnostic and this pointed to bad memory chips.  i replaced the memory and then was able to upgrade to Sierra on my 2010 MB Pro.  What's odd is previous versions of mac OS were able to be installed even with the bad memory.

Seems like you've covered most things, which leaves the possibility that your new drive is from a faulty batch or is incompartible with your Mac.

I agree.  Just received a Samsung EVO SSD (awesome overnight fulfillment by Amazon) which I will try to setup today.  Fingers crossed.  Thanks.
