My computer is running very slow. How can I spe...

I have a MacBook Pro that was purchased in 2014, running OS 10.12.6 Sierra. Every time I make a move online, the little scroll wheel pops up. I can't even move through a page (or type this question) without it popping up and stalling my progress several times. I've reset my modem--it's not the modem speed--and I run CleanMyMac several times a month to keep my gears in tune, but this is getting worse each day. What can I do to improve my Mac's performance and speed?

CleanMyMac is probably the problem. It's like slow poison and it gets worse each time you use it. So the first thing to do is to uninstall CleanMyMac as per the developer's instructions.

The run

run EtreCheck. It is a diagnostic tool that's very useful to us in finding problems. Also it will check for other PUP, adware or bits of CMM you may have missed. After it runs post the log file here. It will contain no personal information.

Had no idea an app that is supposed to clean my Mac would cause the issue. I ran the check, and I'll paste in the report screenshots below. However, my computer is still "beachballing," so perhaps I should restart it???

The EtreCheck results is reporting that your Mac is infected with adware. I suggest that you re-run the report, and this time, select the option to "Remove" it from within the report.

Hello

You can run the software malwarebytes to help you find and remove your malware(s) it’s lightweight and free for this task
