USB c port not working on new MacBook Pro 2016

One of the 4 USBc ports on my new MacBook Pro is not working.  Have tried rebooting the computer twice but it has no effect.  Have tried two peripheral devices (a monitor and a keyboard)- both work in the other ports but will not function in the one causing the trouble.  Any ideas as how to address this?

Try resetting the SMC and NVRAM. If that doesn't work contact Apple, and get the MBP replaced.

Did this work? I am having the same problem also

I've reset only SMC, and port become alive. Do you know because of what might be that problem?

SMC reset worked for me, too!

Thanks!

The System Management Controller is a micro-controller responsible for many low-level functions. If it gets confused about what Hardware is where, an SMC reset is the usual "fix".

The non-responding USB-C port on my MBP was available again following Esquared's suggestion and instruction on https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063

SMC reset worked for me. Many thanks.

I have the same issue, but can't seem to find a solution either. Apple Support???

This User-to-User forum is NOT Apple Support.

If the suggestions other users have posted above are not working for you, then yes, DO contact Apple Support by telephone or make a Genius bar appointment (if available in your country). We have no escalation procedures from here.

I was wondering this too. On right side on 13" Macbook Touchbar my USB-C stopped suddenly working.

Did SMC reset and everything. Didnt seem to help.

Then I turned my power cable otherwise around when putting to USB-C. I tested with other USB-C hub also and in both cases it didnt first work with one way but turning cable 180 degrees got recognized. I tested twice both and port didnt got recognized unless I turned cable upside down.

Now it works on both ways.

Yes it does not make any sense but this is what happened to me.

You are a legend! Thank you!

SMC reset was helpfull did the job

Thanks for answer. In my case problem was in cable. I've used wrong type-c cable for charging. Do you know is a thunderbolt 3 cable capable of charging a MacBookPro?

I have a couple that I'm afraid are loose and starting to die.  They seem poorly designed.
