Macbook freezes during installation

I have a macbook pro mid-2012, I recently just changed the hard disk drive to a new blank one. Then I tried installing Mac os x mountain lion through the internet recovery mode, this was working fine till the download got to 86% and froze then the computer starts to heat up. I suspect the RAM is the computer is not properly seated or the new hard disk is not well fix. Please if you have any idea what may have caused this freeze and solution, let me know, you may save a macbook today.
