My watch will not update

I select update software, it says to connect to the power charger (which it is) and proceed to enter the passcode on the watch itself (which I do).   It then claims I am not connected to the internet.

 

The phone is connected to the internet and the watch is attached to the phone.  

 

What am I missing?

Check that you are following all of the relevant instructions here, including first updating your iPhone to the latest version of iOS:

 

 

They include deleting any downloaded update file (see under the heading "If you need help updating") and, if appropriate, the instructions under the heading "If you installed an iOS or watchOS beta or developer seed".

 

Check also that your iPhone is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi (not via Mi-Fi or cellular data).
