imac (High Sierra) partition wont resize correctly

Hi mac newby here. In short my 2010 imac (High Sierra) partition won't resize correctly.

What happened is that i tried installing windows via Bootcamp. That didn't work as my cd rom is broken, so i tried to do it manually. I partitioned my hard drive but cancelled that idea as it seemed too hard. I then removed the new partition. I suspect i removed the partition incorrectly as i now have a 500 GB hard drive and 500 GB Recovery hard drive, instead of a 1TB hard drive.

Now that i have hacked bootcamp to boot via USB i get a "disc could not be partitioned error".

Anyone have a solution for me? kind of stuck and dont want to spend $150 bucks getting this fixed. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Here is what discutil looks like

iMacs-iMac:~ home$ diskutil list

   2:                  Apple_HFS Macintosh HD            500.0 GB   disk0s2

   3:                 Apple_Boot Recovery HD             500.0 GB   disk0s3

/dev/disk1 (external, physical):

   #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER

   0:     FDisk_partition_scheme                        *8.0 GB     disk1
