Verify your identity
Sometimes Google might ask you to verify your identity before you can buy something on Google Play.
Why you have to verify your identity
European regulations require Google to verify your identity when you reach certain transaction limits on Google Play. This helps prevent money laundering and fraud. Google will only ask you to verify your identity when you reach that limit, and you will typically only have to do it once. If we are unable to verify your identity, we may temporarily suspend your Google account.
Your personal information is stored securely and treated according to the Google Payments Privacy Notice. The verification process won't impact your credit score or credit rating.
How to verify your identity
Information used to verify your identity includes details like your name and address. Try to keep your name and address, including your first name, last name, and your street name up to date in your Google Payments account. To update these details, go to payments.google.com and look for Settings.
In some cases we may require you to submit a copy of your government-issued ID and a proof of address such as a utility bill to verify your identity. If you have received an email requesting you to provide us with verification documents, please submit them through this form.
If you have any questions about identity verification, please contact us.
