how to remove Siri from touch bar
How do I remove Siri from Touch Bar? I am activating it unintentionally when I want to use Touch ID.
Bill
Bill,
You will want to go into your keyboard preferences under the "Customize Control Strip" option. Then you will be able to delete the icons you would like.
Also, here is a link to where I found this information:
Disable Siri
System Preferences > Siri
Uncheck the box beside "Enable Siri".
https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25151?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Turning off Siri in prefernces does not remove it from touch bar.
Thanks for your input
Bill,

Also, here is a link to where I found this information:
Open system preferences > security & privacy > if you are administrator open the pad lock by entering admin name & password & select privacy .
Uncheck the box Siri & location .
Thanks "Abdmac"

That helps but what I'd like now is a blank space shim to go in the place Siri was. The problem was my finger accidentally touching that space and invoking "do you want to enable Siri?" I'd rather nothing happen.
Greetings,
While this information got me on the right track, it may be outdated. In my case, Siri is part of the default set and cannot be removed. However, when using "Customize Control Strip," items on the default strip can be reordered. Drag the Siri icon away from the delete button. Now I accidentally hit the mute icon. Problem solved.
You can customize the touch bar and remove siri via the normal method: System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Customize control strip button. While you are in the customize screen and the touch strip icons are wobbling you can drag the Siri icon all the way to the left until it prompts you to remove. After this it will be gone from your customized bar.
I was just able to remove Siri from the Touch Bar by launching
System Preferences / Keyboard / Customize Control Strip
and then moving the mouse pointer down below the screen, trying to aim to the right edge of the Touch Bar, blindly left-clicking and then dragging the mouse back up into the screen.
Lo and behold, there was a Siri icon dangling on my mouse pointer, and when I released the left button it went away. This was after turning Siri off and disabling it's location preference.
