Should I buy non used original iPad 2 A1395

Never used still on box. Thinking of buying as gift for my mum as her iPad 4 has broken

She only uses FaceTime Facebook emails and camera sometimes possibly skype

Would it be fit for purpose or are apps non compatible these days

Please advise.

Hi. The iPad 2 is stuck at iOS 9.3.5. iOS 11 is about to be released. A newer model would be more future-proof. Have you looked at the "new" iPad 5 that came out earlier this year? It has current internal technology, and should handle updates for several years to come.

If you can buy ipad mini 2 or better or ipad air then it's future proof for a couple of years.

A lot of apps will not be able to work on older ipad because they run 32 bit

Newer Ipad a run on 64 bit and apps are changing to run on 64 bit

Facetime and Skype will also change in time.

new in the box if it was purchased more than a year and a day ago the warranty has expired and it will only be updatable to iOS 9. if the seller is asking more than $150 US than IMHO walk away.

If not make sure the following is understood between you and the seller before you get sold a brick.
