how do you stop itunes from popping up to the A...

How do you stop itunes from popping back up to the letter A, when you are editing your artist. When I was in itunes before ?,  I would be working on my songs and say my artist's name started with a D - it would stay with the D's until I was finished.  Now it pops back up to the top.  I have Sierra.
