whats up with the Microsoft Au Daemon app??

Whats with the microsoft Au Daemon app??

Every time i try to open a word doc, it asks me if i really want to open it or just view the app, like it's a bad thing...

And it's really annoying.

Do i have to have it just to keep using word, or can i get rid of it without causeing a problem to word functioning??
