Play counts and last played not updating in 12....

Since updating to 12.7 on Windows (64-bit), play counts and "last played" time and date are not updating at all.  I just played a 25 song playlist and play count numbers did not change and they all say last played on 9/7/2017.  One song was a new addition, so it has a play count of zero and no last played date.  I have tried it with multiple playlists and songs from a variety of sources (bought from iTunes and ripped from CD).

I am not an Apple Music subscriber.

However, when I played the song on my iPhone and then synced the phone with my PC, both counts updated properly.

Is there a fix for this or am I stuck waiting for Apple to figure it out?
