What is "CNSSelectorAgent.app" it is asking me to accept incoming network connections. This sound dangerous to me. Why would have this appeared? What should i do?

Do you have a Canon Network Scanner? It likely needs to allow network traffic so it can be selected.

I have a Canon printer with a scanner which I have been trying to connect to. So  the app is safe. Thanks

It took 2 months of playing with my new Mac to get a reliable connection with a Cannon MX420.

Anyone know how to make it just open with the computer going on instead of asking you every time??

Canon hasn't code-signed the app so that OS X's Gatekeeper knows it's legit (and I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to). The thing is, I have other, old apps that aren't code-signed, and after I open them the first time Gatekeeper will let them open without prompting me after that, so I don't know why CNSSelectorAgent.app continues to be a problem. The app lives inside the Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector EX app in Applications/Canon Utilities. I've added both apps with "allow incoming connections" in the Firewall pane in System Prefs > Security, but the **** thing keeps popping up every time I log in. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to get the firewall settings to take effect, I would appreciate the help.

OK, this has worked for me on Yosemite 10.10.3:

Allow the connection request as usual.

Check in the security/firewall settings that all is as you desire i.e. the list of allowed apps is correct.

Close security settings.

Navigate to Library/Preferences and locate the file com.apple.alf.plist

Drag it to the desktop (which copies it only).

Delete it from original location (it will ask for confirmation, don't worry).

Reboot immediately, which forces a rebuild of the preference list file (feel free to check on reboot, it will be there).

Hey presto, no further requests, well, so far...

Bloody annoying!

My apologies, that method only works because it turns the firewall off!

Back to the drawing board...

Watching this topic. Flummoxed on what to do.

It took me 2 years to finally get my mg6360 connected properly!!

Great suggestion. It helped me alright.
